Ed Stephenson

Ed Stephenson, saxophone and clarinet player and leader, began his musical career at age 5 when he played at a neighborhood lounge in Birmingham, Alabama and the patrons took up a collection to pay him for the entertainment. At age 13 he began playing with his father's big band, "Eddie Stephens and His Orchestra," and took over the lead alto sax duties with the band at age 16. After graduating college, Ed spent four years in Charleston, S.C., where he performed with numerous bands, and established his first dance and jazz band. While there, he also performed for shows that included Liberace, Johnny Desmond, and the Music Hall of Israel. After moving to Dothan, he performed in a variety of settings that included the "Bill Farmer Combo," the Wiregrass Civic Band, the Southeast Alabama Community Theater, the "Moonlighters" big band, and, in Ozark with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. In addition to performing, he writes most of the arrangements used by the group, and has also written a number of original pieces that are performed by the group. Since 1995, he has appeared as a featured soloist with concert groups in Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal, Latvia, Turkey, and Croatia using jazz as a force for Christian evangelism. He is a member of the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation and has played in jazz jams with renowned jazz musicians in Alabama.

Dan Colvin

Dan Colvin, keyboard player, studied ethnomusicology at the University of Washington and has performed across the U.S. with numerous bands playing various musical styles. He is a member of the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation and has been playing with the “Ed Stephenson Group” since 1991.

Paul Pollan

Paul Pollan, drummer, is a charter member of the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation and has recorded in Atlanta, Muscle Shoals, Pensacola, and Jacksonville. He is an Alumnus of the Wallace College Jazz Band, the Birmingham Southern Jazz Band, the Wiregrass Civic Band, and The Moonlighters, and has played with such noted jazz stars as Jean Luc Ponty and Marcus Roberts, and classical artist Diane Biche. He has been playing with the "Ed Stephenson Group" since it was formed in 1988.

Marcus Hart

Marcus Hart was the first electric bassist to perform with the Troy State University Band on the field. He has performed extensively in Alabama and North Forida with the Jim Bell Trio and has played with such jazz greats as Slide Hampton. He is a member of the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation and has been with the "Ed Stephenson Group" since 1993.
